Couple of quick comments here :

1. photobucket ( not used much by the purveyors of pix here ) has adopted a "no third party hosting for free accoounts " stance which has pissed off legions of users. I'm concerned others may follow suit, and while our better used hosting sites appear to be OK, if anyone starts having issues, maybe let the forum members know so we can be pre-armed with other options !

2. Have seen a number of link listings which require a specific login (age related, account related) or country designation access requirements.

As a courtesy to other members I would suggest that members make a quick note if any logins / access / country requirements are required for other members to view the posted links. I know it is not always possible, but where you do know, please let others know in advance. Most proxies and VPNs allow country access choices or changes.

just some random comments as I cruise todays post list

Thanks for first asking jamesr10. There are constantly new image hosting sites coming online, and we like to find alternatives. The ones that are banned have been known to redirect browsers to unwanted sites or will maliciously attack one's browser and hold it hostage for payment to release (which, btw is resolved by hitting ctrl-alt-delete then closing the browser - but losing anything in the meantime).

You have my permission to post using the site you're asking about. If it works and there's no malicious attacks or redirects, we'll add it to the approved list.

Hi Brad,
since tumblr retreated from hosting "porn" there have been risen some potential successors.
I'm using currently https://newtumbl.com

As I don't wanna get banned I'm asking in advance it could be permitted to post links or a link to my blog?

Similar to what Brad said above to a similar request. You are prepared to vouch for the integrity of the site, so give it a go. Post a couple of images. The other mods andI will check them out as we do in the course of our duties. If all is well it may get added to the approved list. Thanks for doing the right thing and asking first.

- I would humbly suggest to allow links to very common sites like DeviantArt or very common adult sites like Pornhub or Xvideos. Rationale: It is unlikely that such sites contain malware. Or at least it is not more likely than with many other sites that most people go to, I think.

- Qustion: Are "inactive" links allowed as long as the site they are directed to seems to be acceptable by this forum's rules and standards?

Example of an "active" link:
http://www.cfnmvillage.com/

Examples of "inactive" links:
cfnmvillage[.]com
cfnmvillage[dot]com

Hm. Are there approved posting sites where a free and anonymous account can be used to post more than just, say, 32mb-worth of images? I mean, I have TERRABYTES of this stuff that I've collected since the 1990s, and while I generally prefer to lurk, at the moment I've a mind to start, err..."sharing the wealth," right? But not if I have to pay money to do it.

Any advice from those what know?

Hi Bubba440,

Thank-you for asking before doing. We like it when people think before they act.

This thread was started just over eight years ago, in response to how hosting sites back then were operating. Pretty much NONE of the information back at the start of this thread is relevant to the current situation. Back then, coming up with a list of "safe sites" made sense. Filehosting was a growing industry and there were good players and bad players in the industry. We were recommending the ones with no malware and banning the ones with malware/redirects etc. That worked well back then.

As the industry developed the way that sites were opperating was that a new site would start up and be operating cleanly. This attracted members, who often paid to host their material for people to download for free. New sites became popular and many people uploaded HUGE volumes of video etc. When the "clean" site reached a certain stage (had enough paying customers with huge volumes uploaded) they would start adding malware etc onto the links. THe site owners would then milk all the profit they could from selling malicious redirects to the downloaders and taking membership form uploaders until the site dies a natural death. That didn't matter to the site owners. They already had several more hosting sites moving through the same process at different stages along that same evolutionary route.

Somewhere along the line the owner and mods of CFNM Village decided that we would no longer recommend any sites, but recommend that members ensure that the link they post is clean before they post it. We were well aware that as soon as a link becomes popular the hosting site would probably add malware to it. We warned site users that their browsing safety was their own responsibility (as it always had been in reality) and to report links that they found to be infected.

Members here can edit their own threads and many of them were reupping from their new, clean (for the moment) links to replace their infected ones. Moderators delete infected links that the owners failed to replace. THere's heaps of dead links where the "end-of-life" hosting sites are no longer accessible.

So, for the above reasons, we no longer recommend particular hosting sites because what's good today is bad tomorrow. Choose one from what's out there and remember what I wrote here. Please look aftter your own links and if someone reports one as infected, deal with it and all will be fine.

If you can be seen to be posting responsibly you will be fine. But remember, action can and will be taken against anyone who makes a habit of posting infected links, either recklessly or deliberately.

I hope this helps.

A free account with Mega.nz works well. It allows you to create links to files, groups of files or even folders. So it's really managable and you can turn on or off access as you see fit.

Thanks much to both of you.

Okay, I'll start by trying Mega; I remember the owner of that site and his history back in the era of Rapidshare, so while he's a colorful character, I'm inclined to trust his resurrected site more than generic ones. If that goes sideways somehow, I guess I'll have to cast around awhile to find something clean.

Why not create a torrent out of it all?
