Hi, I have some pictures which I have taken previously and not posted anywhere. Is it the forum preference that I should use IGBB and post a link or can I post pictures to the newbies forum ( once moderated ) ? I'd rather just post direct than have added faff but if someone could advise please.

The reason we want folks to use separate file-sharing hosts is that if everyone posted their photos/images directly on the posts as attachments, eventually it would cause the website host to restrict the resource usage (technically, we use a shared server as opposed to a dedicated server as the former is cheaper for me).

IGBB is good; however, I've recently have been using this one:

pimpandhost.com

If you created an account (free and you can use your free gmail or hotmail email) pimpandhost.com allows you to create an album. Simply, you start loading photos or GIFs from your computer - each must be less than 5 MB. You can load dozens, then click just one icon, use the BB code and copy all photo links for embedding in your post with one click.

I hope it can stick around. Nothing worse than browsing through a long thread (eg. B2B, C-O Beaches) and seeing a whole load of dead links because the hosting site has bitten the dust.

No guarantees on any site, I suppose!

Actually one guarantee - download it to your personal hard drive (I have an 8 TB external drive for backing up my data/files)

lol. I just watched a Youtube from late 70's where these tech guys are talking about a 40inch 10MB hard drive that looks like one of those units they use to align car tyres. The presenter asks. "Who would ever need 10MB, surely that is a waste of money designing something with more storage than any normal person might ever need?

The first PC I ever built myself was a 386DX Pro at 66MHz, 4 meg of Ram, 1 meg graphics and 40 meg HDD. I also fitted a 44meg SCSI HDD that sounded like a 747 at take-off when used, but was fast!
Those were the days.
I also recall paying £300 to get two 4mb ram chips many, many years back.

I remember navigating the Internet using line commands - up until the day I was able to type in a line command to download the beta version of Netscape Navigator. Even after that you still needed line commands for some functions. And I don't even regard myself as "old".

My first computer was an Amstrad CPC466. Marginally more powerful then a C64, but not by much. I had 128k on that with the dongle. lol
Gauntlet, Harrier Attack, Ghostbusters et al. Great games. Some games even loaded in under 12 mins from their cassette.

I wanted to upload all of my images at once, IE in a zip file. What would be a good host to upload to?

Excellent that you're contributing original content - that's rare!

To answer you question, It depends upon the size of the zipped file. If it is under 2 Gb, most file hosts will work. The more popular ones need you to create an account, but they're free for the kind of thing you want to do.

We've banned a few because they malicious pop-ups and you're often first redirected to a porn site. The one's allowed here that have been around a long time, and I've used with success:

Keep2Share: https://k2s.cc/
Rapidgator: https://rapidgator.net/
