Post subject:  Removing Metadata

Okay, so I have a sensitive question about track-scrubbing things to do in preparation for starting posting from a personal collection. Specifically, I want to know what can be done to remove all (like, ALL) identifying metadata from folders full of images and videos. To go through each image and video individually would take way, way too long, as the collection is not small, so I need something more efficient.

One fortunate thing: I'm on Win7, not Win10, so it seems like right-clicking a folder and telling the machine to make data-stripped copies of all contents does work as best I can tell. The only annoying thing then is in having to go through the folder and delete all the originals, but ordering the folder by <Date Saved> helps make that only a mild annoyance. Am I, by doing this, leaving any nasty metadata still in place or is a folder cleaned in this way now good to go? If there is still something left behind, what is it and how might I eliminate it?

Thanks for any advice from the tech gurus!

It could be done but it would be the end of civilization as we know it.

Thanks, insider. No Mac for me ever, though. My next box will feature freeware Linux--most likely Slackware. I am completely sick and tired of tech corporations tracking us and collecting and packaging our data without our permission and generally without our ever even being warned about it. Shit, they even track us by our grammar and turns of phrase now. My future posts, perhaps, should be google-translated into Japanese or Swedish and then back into English just to cover my tracks, eh?

The links to freeware for removing EXIF data were very helpful--thanks.

Linux box would be a good choice. I used to admin WinDoze networks and finally gave up and ran Macs instead,
but a Linux box was on my personal list as well.

Forget Google translate ... I think we all need to consider Navajo Code Talking

OH :o forgot to mention https://tineye.com/
it is a reverse image search engine which can track down an image to other sources,
so it may be a way for you to backcheck / cross check if your "cleansing" is effective.
Recall though that places like google will warehouse their stuff for a while
so you may not be able to make a totally clean sweep "immediately." Eventullly though it will phase out.
Generally uploading the image works better than a url, especially if the image is embedded in a private forum such as ours,
or added as an attachment instead of a hot link.

Glad the other links helped
Cheers
